What the Scorpion Academy can offer you
Here at the Scorpion Academy we offer two styles of Martial Arts. They are Universal Karate and Thai-Kickboxing. We run seperate junior and senior classes in both styles and make sure that all of our classes are kept fun, friendly and always very exciting. Thai-Kickboxing will get you super fit with super charged workouts and with plenty of pad work and sparring. Universal Karate encompasses empty hand and weapon patterns, ground work, self defence, sparring, throws and takedowns. The Scorpion Academy holds three coloured belt exams each year as well as Blackbelt exams as and when students are ready to attempt the ‘ big one ‘. Mark Trent is Vice President of the B.T.A. (British Tae-Kwon-Do Association) and is honoured to be a student under Grand Master Roy Kilner and Great Grand Master Tony Quigley. All Scorpion grades are fully recognised under the Grand Masters and therefore command much respect. The cost of all Scorpion exams are kept very fair with no hidden charges, staggered increases or rip off fees and include all belts and certificates. Upon reaching Blackbelt you can then enter upon the Scorpion Instructors training programme. This has been specially devised by Mark Trent to ensure that all Scorpion Instructors/Coaches are of the highest standard possible. All junior students have to earn their invites to attend the exams and this is based on work in class, at home and at school. Work sheets are also given out on a regular basis so that students learn about the history of the Martial Arts, and general knowledge of the Arts.
Mark J.R.Trent started training in the Martial Arts in 1979 and has trained ever since. He holds Master levels in Karate and Kickboxing and has researched and trained in many styles. We like to keep upto date on modern training methods but to also keep some of the traditional values as well. Since the mid 1980’s Mark has had many fights both on the mats and in the boxing ring, gaining three title belts in the process, so that he has first hand experience and knowledge to offer during his Thai-Kickboxing classes. Within the Universal Karate classes self defence is a major aspect and it is vitally important that your instructor/coach has first hand experience of dealing with threatening behaviour both verbal and physical. Mark has worked the ‘doors’ for many years and again his experiences filter into the Karate classes. Remember the old saying ‘ would you learn to swim if your teacher had never been in the water’. Think about it.
Please do come along to our classes as you will be made most welcome and well looked after. Should you wish to have personal one to one training this can be arranged and this applies to all new students as well as graded students who wish to brush up on their skills on the lead up to the exams.
Looking forward to meeting you.
