Tibetan Meditation and Tai Chi Chuan Seminars
On August the 11th and 12th we were honoured to have the unique chance to train under Master Chen. A fantatsic group of like minded students from various Martial Art styles were treated to a seminar on Tibetan Meditation which taught us how important correct breath and focus is and how it effects our training and everyday lives. The Tai Chi Chuan seminar focused on knife defence, Master Chen demonstrated an amazing array of self defence techniques against various knife attacks which always ended with the attacker on the floor in agony. Master Chen has sixty years of Martial Arts experience, covering many areas of expertise. He has taught the Royal Palace bodyguards, Elite and Specialised fighting units, various Government Agencies and is asked to teach all over the world. We were all very, very fortunate to have had this chance to train with the Master. A very big thank you to Master Chen’s wife Pi-Han and to Master Chen’s top student Shing-Hou who was demonstrated upon by Master Chen to great effect. Also, well done to Scorpion Coach Andy Lewis who was asked by Master Chen to attack him with a knife and was completely and utterly rendered useless by the Master. And a final thank you to Simon Williams for helping to organise the two seminars and for allowing us access to train with Master Chen.

B.T.A. Training Seminar
On Saturday 31st July Scorpion Instructor Hannah Povah and Mark Trent travelled upto Grandmaster Roy Kilner’s Dojang in Doncaster to run a seminar that covered knife defence and self defence techniques. Both Hannah and Mark kept the group of eager students busy with a variety of drills including takedowns. Following on the second half of the seminar was taken by Master Mick Dale who took the group through sword work, which included kata and partner drills and finished with some more knife self defence. Master Mick’s seminar was very well received by all in attendance and when you consider his extensive knowledge and Blackbelt ranks in many different styles and systems we were all very lucky to have had the opportunity to train under him.
